I am now the treasurer of a group & the past treasurer won't hand over the books,receipts etc of previous years to me or the committee. I have no idea if accounts have all been paid or any cheques not yet presented. He has been asked several times but still no action. It has been written in the minutes that I am responsible for the books only from the date I took over but that doesnt help keep the account books accurate if old cheques get presented or someone claims we havent paid an account & I have no proof that we did for example. What can I do?
