How do I make this work?

Question

I am wanting to know what I should do and how I should go about raising money to go to India or Africa and help with the needy. I am wanting to bring food and toys to the places. I have tried going through established organizations and it seems that they only want you to send money! I actually want to go to these countries and be a part of the distribution as well as the buying of the goods! Please I need as many ideas as possible

Many churches have missionary programs that you could either join or get information about starting one yourself,hope it helps

Mary B, that's a good answer, but most churches train their own missionaries, and don't take just  anybody (no offense). However, they DO have short mission trips that you may be able to try.  Contact the state headquarters, for example of the Southern Baptists or the Methodists, etc.  You can get that number by calling a local church.
