Question:

How do I meet English speakers in Mexico City?

I have lived in Mexico City for over 10 years, but all my friends are Mexican. Now I have a book which I have written and I want to get a feedback on it. The book is in English so I want to find English speakers, native or very proficient, who can understand the book, whom I could talk to, even survey. I have looked on the net but really can't find many sites, groups or contacts among any English speaking communities here in the city. Can anyone help me with any suggestions of how I could contact English speakers here in the D.F.? (or for that matter, anywhere in Mexico?)

  1. How about the University of Mexico or schools that calim to teach English to Mexicans, find an expat community,

or go to the hotels I bet they can hook you up.

  2. Go into the middle of a large crowd and scream at the top of your lungs "Does anyone speak english!?!?"

  3. Lots of English language speakers in sports bars and hostels. Up market speakers in colleges and starred hotels. Depends on the topic of your book. Ask around, there are probably writing classes you could join and show off your magnum opus.

  4. you are in a problem very bad, in mexico spoken spanish, a few of people speak english,

    i speak spanish.

i hope that my grammar will be correct.

    godbye.

  5. Go out and ask an actual human if they speak english, or maybe listen for engrish language. There must places to look?

  6. Contact the Newcomers Club  of Mexico City.  Click the link below.

If you ever get up to San Miguel de Allende, go to the main square--about 30 English speakers will pass through there each hour.

  7. North of you is Guadalajara and south of that is Lake Chapala...There are over 20,000 english speaking expatriots who you can get to check it out.  There is all kinds of clubs and societys that you could contact.  Check the internet for Chapala expatriots and youll find whatever you need. Good luck to you

  8. Hi Don, I know you can find a lot of mexicans that can speak English without problems, I´m one of them. Here´s my advice to you: I used to work in an american school in Mexico city (Westhill Institute) and I know for a fact that there are several groups of american, and canadian  citizens that have their own social groups, why don´t you call Westhill Institute and ask for the principal (Mr. Andrew Sherman) who by the way is American and ask him directly, he is very nice and he will clear all your doubts.

Browsw through the Internet : Westhill Institute Mexico City to get Santa fe´s campus phone and call him. I hope this can help.
