How do I move a door in my home? It's an old house, and I need wallspace for furniture.

My living room has 4 doorways, a closet door, 2 windows, and a windowed alcove. The room this door opens into is clearly an addition. I'd like to move the door into the hallway, across from the doorway to my basement stairs.

  1. Ask help from an architect or people who can help you determine what's the best thing to do however if you're looking for new furniture, you can try to look at this page. You can choose lots of furniture there.

  2. It involves removing studs and most likley adding a header if you are dealing with a load bearing wall.  I would either call a contrator or buddy up with someone who is really knows what they are doing.

    Good Luck.
