Question:

How do I move my Yahoo Group to the adult section?

Last month I took over a group for a friend who was tired of it. I changed it to an adult group. Even though I make it clear in the description that you must be over 18 and have your age in profile, kids are still applying for membership. I want to classify it as adult, so only adults are able to have access. And I cannot find the answer to this anywhere on the web. My only other option would be delete the group and start a new one in the adult section, which would be a pain in the butt. Thanks for any help.

  1. If you are sure you want to change it to Adult category, do this:

    Sign in to your group.

    Click on Management.

Under Group Settings, click Description & Appearance.

Scroll down to "Category" and click on "Edit".

Under Browse Group Categories, click "Top".

On the next page, select "Romance & Relationships"category.

On next page, select which topical category you want your group in.

Click on "Put my group here".

This does not guarantee that no kids will join your group by using an alternate Yahoo account.  Just keep your eye out for new members' postings that sound like they are written by a youngster.  You can ban members for any reason or no reason at all.

How do I know where to properly place my group?

Browse or search through the Yahoo! Groups directory to find the appropriate category. Look for categories that list similar groups or are specifically devoted to your subject.

Note: Adult-oriented groups must be placed in the "Adult" category ("Romance & Relationships > Adult" or other sub-category with the word "adult" in it).

Our team of category editors will review your selection and might change the location of your group. Your group will be listed in the Yahoo! Groups directory within a few days.
