How do I move out of my parents home?

How do I move out of my parents home for the first time when I enter college? I'm entering my Senior year of high school this year and I will be getting a job and saving whatever amount of money I need to. I live in California and have no problem living in a studio apartment (in fact, its almost preferable). I will be moving out with my boyfriend (I know, I know, "Blah blah you'll break up and this won't work out blah blah"), so, the rent will be split. I have a late birthday, so, I'll be 17 until October. As long as my parents are okay with it, will that matter that I'm underage?

So, how do I move out?

  1. If you're underage you can't sign a lease without a co-signer (generally a parent). Otherwise you're good to go.

  2. i  dont think so. u'll def b fine!

  3. Why not move into a dorm or other form of student housing.  Often, then your meals are included and you don't have to try to figure out how to take care of yourself while you're trying to figure out how to survive in college.  If you're going to a UC school you will need everything you've got to survive the 1st year.  Try to eliminate unneeded distractions.

  4. first get him to sign the lease but add you as an occupant.  That way he most of the responsibilities but you have the right to stay there.  Then get a bill in your name so that you will make it tough to get kicked out without causing problems.  Perferably the cable bill, because if all you get is basic then he can't run up the bill with porno.  Then just move your stuff in.  Keep a cell phone in your name, and keep his cell phone seperate.  Good luck.

  5. prob because ur underage and cant really do anything

and just tell them u need ur independence :)

  6. Moving out at 17 is not adviseable. When you move in to your own place you must be 18 to start a utility bill. (Electric, gas, water, phone, cable) You should wait as long as you can! Good luck

  7. most landlords wont rent to an 18 yr old let alone someone who's 17.  You might be able to get your own place if your parents sign saying they will be responsible for any unpaid rent or damages.   check out www.dca.ca.gov to know your rights for CA  as far as how much a landlord can charge for deposits etc.

When you do find a place to rent make sure you keep all your receipts.  before moving in take plenty of pictures of the inside and outside of your area dated of course.  and once again when you move out.  Unfortunately this world is filled with landlords that like to keep deposits for the stupidest stuff.  I had to deal with one of those when I was a renter ( however I didn't know the laws )   Good Luck

  8. ask ur bf.. its our job to take care of our chicks, so he should hav it figured out

  9. one day.. u will ask here what u should do.. coz u just break up w/ ur b/f and won't work out.. lol..

just don't do that.. coz it's too late to regret it at that time..

  10. Just pack up your belongings and move out.

  11. ok so you will get the room with college? and then you will get a job. you will just start packing with your stuff and you should get some things first of all get (thrift shop) set of small dishes to eat off and some silver ware and you can get couple pots and frying pan (maybe 3 or 4 total) and then you can get cuple towels and wash clothes. use them and hang them up after done it will be fine for one week and wash. then you get wash clothes cheap ones for dishes and dish towels you can get 12 for something easy at walmart. you need to get small vaccumn and broom somthing to pick up dirt after sweeping. or dust rags. You will need couple sheet s and pillow cases and stuff like that i am sure you r mom will help you will some of this.  coffee pot if you are coffee drinker and use a thing to make fries with and toaster small oven is good also instead of using oven in stove. getbath set for the toilet stool and cover and one rug depending on how big. you have it goo dluck and be happy.
