  1. My daughter was born in Germany - we took her to the US consulate and received all the things we needed the same day. You get a certificate of overseas birth, a passport and can apply for a ss card.


  2. if you are an american citizen, then your child is american too.

    show the mexican birth certificate with your name as the father and that will be enough to bring the child to the US.

    Now  you will have to register the birth in the US and do all the paperwork...you should be able to do the whole thing yourself without a lawyer.

  4. If you are an American citizen, go to or contact the nearest American consulate.  See list below.

  5. You'll need to file papers for a foreign born child to a US citizen - you can find these on the government website. You have until the child is 16 to file. It will take a couple of months. If your son is an infant born on vacation, they'll expedite the paperwork usually at an on-site office (border or customs).
