I am state licensed in Fla. I am confused about city and/or county licensing for San Diego.

  1. Uh, go to college and take classes on massaging like everyone else has to do?

  2. * do you know the Mayor well?

    * do you know any SD city council member?

    * go to the city hall and ask for a package of license application of the interested business; study it + ask questions.

    etc.

  3. Hello, I am currently going to school to be licensed in the state of Arizona, but am originally from San Diego and would like to go back, so I've done some research myself.  In the state of California you do not have to be licensed.  It is regulated within the city, so different cities have different requirements.  I know to be licensed in AZ you have to have 700 hours of schooling and practice.  In San Diego, it's a minimum of 100 and you have to show a diploma or transcripts from a state accredited school.  Here is a link that may be helpful.  Even if it just gets you in touch with someone who knows more about it. Good luck.

I just want to respond to one of the other comments that was posted.  To have a license in Florida you have to have 500 hours of education and experience, and pass the NCETMB, not to mention 25 credits of continued education every 2 years to maintain your license, so this person has gone to school to be a massage therapist.  Obviously you don't have to be able to read to be a massage therapist in San Diego.
