My son has just been born overseas (UK) and I am an Australian citizen and want to him to have an Australian passport so he can meet the rest of his family, he meets all the requirements, but when it comes to obtaining a declaration from an Australian citizen who has known him for a year or more there is no-one because he was only born a few days ago.

  1. in cases like these, a DNA test would have to be performed (my cousin had the same problem as you)

the father, mother and child's DNA will be taken, and then tested to prove that it is your child. then you will be able to obtain a passport.

but your better off asking someone who is a specialist in immigration. like a lawyer / solicitor, because laws change all the time.

  2. Ask embassy staff.

  3. A solicitor will do you a stratergy declaration ,though it will cost you between £30 -£70

  4. Parents who are Australian citizen can declare for their children.
