My father and I haven't talked for 8 years. He has a whole bunch of savings bonds kept in his safe deposit box in my name and social. He never gave them to me when I went to college. Now that I am in a financial crunch, I really need this money to pay for school because I can't get financial aid. I am 25 now and have been stuggling on my own since 18. It would be nice to have a little help. If anybody knows how I can replace them and find out how many there actually are, I would really appreciated it.

  1. try asking him if they are still available, if you can. In writing. Ask him if they are in your name or did he just make everything up. In writing. If he responds and says he still has them but you aren't getting them, you have proof they exist. If they are less than 5k (in CA), you can file in small claims court and explain everything to the judge. Sounds like you have a case if they are in your name, but be prepared to hear your dad say they are gone. Good luck.
