How do I paint a room camouflage room?

Sounds a bit extreme...I know. But my son really wants his room to be camo. I am not sure how to layer the paint or how to make it look at least kinda decent. Any tips or advice welcome.

  1. Take a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M81_Woodlan...

With just 4 colors and copying that pattern would be enough...

Other advise... if your son is young and interested in the army, I think you should watch him, he could be a violent kid and get into troubles...

  2. I'm not an expret or anything But i think this may work.

    First Idea...

Paint the room a solid dark green to be you base.

Then use as many other colors as you want and use a sponge to paint it in a cameo pattern on the wall.

    Second...

Paint the wall white. Then draw your pattern then paint it. I don't know quite how to descrupe the shape but use the same shape you would draw if you were drawing a glob of paint.

You could also just do a dark green wall and a bedspread, rug, and chair cameo...

  3. The best thing you can do is, go to Lowes.  They can help you with the paint and the kind of brushes you should use to get the right look.

  4. Are you doing the new digital camo?  the classic camo?

    or like a "realtree" camo?

If I was doing digital i would make a few stencils the small block shapes and spong with black, tan, brown, light green, dark green, etc

I think it might help a lot to do the whole room dark green first to get started.

I think it would be hard to do the classic camo, but you could probably use a stencil or even freehand.

I once painted my husbands military gear into a camo pattern by using actual leaves. I just painted it one color and then did a lighter colors on top by using the different leaves as stencils.

Have you considered buying camo fabric and hanging it? I know it sounds ghetto but it would save lots of time and hassle plus it might seem more "authentic" looking. if you know what i mean.

It sounds fun though. Good luck!
