How do I paint an outrigger?

I race canoe with several other blind people (check us out at www.ocmap.org). Some women had their paddles painted with a paint scheme matching their canes. I'd like to do the same with the help of a sighted person. Since we'll be using our paddles in salt water, I wanted to get this right.

Paint it with the words: "Watch out! Blind Canoe!"
