How do I participate more in class?

Question

Ok... I just want to know how I can muster up some more courage and actually participate more in class..?

Like, u know "raise hand, answer" or just say the answer like some other guys

I ALWAYS (or atleast always) know the answer but I never put my hand up...

Last year my average in gr10 was 97%... but I just feel as if i should participate in class more. I barely answer anything (orally) during class...

p.s. im in gr11 now.

Part of your grade is participation, likely.

Talk to the teachers, tell them you're shy....they will know by your grades that you are a student.  Don't worry.

Maybe you can present in private.

Keep in mind that some people have a terrible fear of public speaking, and some stutter, this is awful for them.  I do not mean to diminish your pain, but, as a teacher, I never make students talk, but, in my state, students have to give oral reports.  We work it out.  Sometimes as time goes on, things get better, it gets easier.  Good luck.

I am just like you, I hate raising my hand even when I know the answer but when I do and I get it right I feel awesome. You should really just give it a shot and if you don't like the feeling you get afterward then you don't have to participate. Also you could volunteer to read from a book if your teacher asks you to.
