  1. dude u r taking a practice test their is no passing or failing, but u can study just by knowing the definitions of words and paying attention to context clues, but my school gave me a book to study from, so u should get one too.

  2. I'm not kidding when I say the only way to bump up your scores (assuming you're not already making 2300s+) is to drill consistently and take full-length practice tests in ONE SITTING without cheating on the time.

The SAT Reasoning Test and PSATs are honestly not difficult at all. In my opinion, anyone with unlimited time (and food ;D ) can pull a d**n near perfect score on PSAT. The difficulty level of 90+% of the questions is really, really low; it's the stress and time that gets most people.

I took the SAT in January 2007 (I know you're asking about the PSAT, but I took my PSAT that AFTER the SATs, and by that time, I was confident enough to not have to cram too hard for it), and I spent the summer of 06 going to this SAT prep school (Karen Dillard's) every single weekday, and took one practice test every time, four hours each day. After school started, I would go once or twice a week on Saturdays and Sundays. I began summer 06 with a 1800 range. I ended the year with consistent 2300s on all my diagnostic tests.

I will admit I only made a 2240 on the actual SAT, but bear in mind I was also in 9th grade at the time. Also, as a rule of thumb, you're practice tests will always be a little higher than your actual score, simply because the pressure is just not the same as the one you feel at home, sitting in front of your little timer, without a teacher breathing down your neck every five minutes.

Just DRILL DRILL DRILL, and you'll be fine. I'm not telling you to put in 20+ hours each week, but if you force yourself to take 1-2 tests in one sitting without cheating every week, you'll probably get a very good score.

  3. Wow. You're in 9th grade already worried about the PSAT? This is just a practice one and no big deal. You just need to cool down and relax. Life is good.

I took the PLAN ACT and I did fine without doing a thing about it. I ended up recieving a bunch of letters from colleges.

The real ones are the ones you need to prepare for. The PSAT is a step in the preparation.

  4. you'll probably take it again in 11th grade, maybe you'll even take it in 10th grade. so it doesn't really matter how u do in 9th grade. some questions you just won't know, cuz u won't be up to the level of them yet. thats ok. if you want, u can buy a study book, but i'd concentrate on getting good grades instead.

  5. Well, I wouldn't say don't worry; you should use any test as an opportunity to try your best! This practice PSAT will be a big help for the real thing come junior year (which you will want to take very seriously, as it can qualify you for NM).

Look into a Princeton Review PSAT book. I find the PR line of books the most helpful when studying for Collegeboard tests.
