My brake fluid is leaking profusely near the front of the car, pretty much right around the brake fluid tank. I need to fix this immediately but know nothing about brake lines or fluid leaks or anything! HELP! What can I use to patch the leak with? Will something like electrical tape melt or just fall off?

  1. you need to replace the line they work under very high pressure and its a safety issue

  2. You cannot patch a brake line or master cylinder. Have the car towed to a shop you trust if you are not capable of repairing it yourself. Unlike someone here has said, reputable shops do not try to add unnecessary items to make more sales.

  3. sounds like the tank grommet is leaking find a small garage to fix it 5.00 parts + labor make them show you whats wrong if its anything else get more than one opinion many shops like to change unneeded parts to boosttheirr profits.

  4. never patch brake lines replace them! if your life isn't worth the cost of a new line, what about the other drivers and pedestrians that rely on you to stop?

  5. Go to autozone and ask them they give free advice!

  6. you cant patch brake lines you only replace them,if its leaking bad enough don't drive it this could be risky ,have it towed to a  shop but don't try and patch it,it will only get you or someone else hurt, good luck.

  7. Dont patch replace. Dont know about U.S. but in U.K. any kind of repair would be illegal, and a bad idea. Its not just your own safety you would be jeopardising. Replace it and have peace of mind.

  8. you cant patch that plus it will fail inspection if you like the car just fix it there is no cheap fix for this problem replace the line. it might be the master cylinder as well.
