How do I pay credit card bills?

I usually use debit - I paid for a few small things at a drugstore using credit, thinking that it would be deducted from my account, but alas, it wasn't.

How do I pay these bills?

How long do I have to pay them?

  1. Mr Lax,

I'm a Loan Officer Assistant at a bank and I can tell you that if you used a DEBIT CARD and made a transaction as a "credit" then eventually that purchase will be deducted from your checking or savings account--which ever your debit card is connected to.

A "credit" transaction is used by many DEBIT CARD users as a means to avoid the FEE that is implemented at some stores. Carl's Jr for example in Los Angeles, CA does charge .75 cents to use a debit card. But all I tell them is to charge my debit card as a "credit" and I avoid the fee. Also, sometimes using a debit card as a "credit" would also delay the amount of time between when the merchant makes it claim to your money on your bank account---which is what appears to have happen to you.

I once made a purchase at a ECKO Outlet store and it took the store TWO MONTHS (and i'm not kinding you...though this rarely happens) for them to process that order.

IN SHORT---YOU DON'T NEED TO DO ANYTHING---YOUR PURCHASE AT THE DRUGSTORE WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR CHECKING OR SAVINGS ACCOUNT.

ALL YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE IS THAT YOU HAVE MONEY WHEN THEY DO.

    Take care,

    Loan Officer Assistant

  2. Was this your debit card that you used?  Selecting credit is just a processing method.  Instead of requiring your PIN as a debit transaction does, a credit transaction on you debit card just requires your signature.  It should still be deducted from your bank account.  Although the credit transaction can take a few days longer to show up.  Occassionally transactions get hung up and it takes longer.

  3. You will receive a statement in the mail stating your minimum payment and payment due date. There will probably be a return envelope as well.

You should also be able to log in to an online account and manage your credit card. The web address will also be on your first bill.
