I overdrew my US Bank account about 2 years ago when I hit some real hard times (I was laid off while on vacation and didn't get my vacation pay). I understand what I did was wrong, but at the time I had no choice.
For the last 6 months I have been trying to pay this debt off in full and it seems to be almost impossible. I contacted US Bank and was told they sold the debt to another company, so I called that company. I was then informed they had sold the debt to another company as well. Now this is where the situation gets a little difficult. I called the number to this new company and got a voicemail that sounded as iff a teenager recorded it and all it said was "we are not available please leve your name, phone number, and social security number and we will call you back." Well I didn't not feel comfortable leaving my social security number so I just left my name a nd phone number. I waited 3 days and called back and I got an answer. I was then informed that the debt had been sold to another agency, so I got that phone number from the lady and called right away to the new agency. Well I got the EXACT SAME voicemail message, so once again I just left my name and number. I waited tell the next week and called back and someone answered. It appears that the debt had only been moved to another department, not sold to a different agency. I told the lady what was going on and asked if she could send me a statement. I was promply told no they don't send out statments. I asked if I could make a payment over the phone and she told me no, they don't take payments over the phone either. I asked how am I suppose to make a payment and I was told that I can send a money order or casheirs check. She then told me that when I am ready to pay I should call and get the exact amount and the address to mail it to. I was told if I don't like it I can wait tell they sell the debt to another agency.
I talked to someone and they said I coudl make a payment arrang, ent through Chex Systems and I was given a number but that number is vlicemail for if you want to order a report (and I did). But I want to get this debt paid off, and start working towards fixing my credit.
