How do you perpendicular park into a parking space, like in parking lots? When should you start turning the wheel?

How do you perpendicular park and stay between the lines, like in parking lots? Whenever I do it, I am over the line and my car is almost in the next lane? When should you start turning? I need some help with this.

  1. 1. As you approach the space, keep at least eight feet between your car and the cars in the row you are parking in.

    2. After you signal, position the car so that the front bumper is just beyond the taillights of the car immediately before the space.

    3. Turn the wheel sharply and enter the parking space.

    4. Pull ahead far enough so that your rear bumper isn’t sticking out of the space. Straighten your wheels.

  2. Ideally you should swing wide from the space and turn into the spot.  For instance if you're going into a space on the right, swing left well ahead of the space then straighten out and turn right.  This will give you the room to maneuver into the spot.

  3. 1. Turn the wheel when the driver's shoulder is

even with the painted line before the desired

                  parking space.

              2. Straighten wheels as center of hood passes the

center of the space. (use creeping speed)
