How do I pimp my ride - 1997 VW polo? ?

I have a '97 VW polo and would love to pimp it up but no spoilers! Just smarten my baby up a little.

The tyres look old and I think I need a new gear stick thing too but don't know where to start as I'm a beginner petrolhead.

Where can I learn what I can do to my car?!?

  1. Wear items like tires are extremally important.

The rule of thumb is that before you spend on cosmetic mods to make the car look cool, you should make sure it's in perfectly maintained condition first.

Cosmetic mods draw people's attention, and the last thing you want them to see is stuff like old tires on new chrome rims.

It's like if a woman wore spiked heels and short skirt but didn't shave her legs. Know what I mean?

So spend on the good tires first (bonus is they'll also keep you safe), making sure you change the oil, filters, plugs and wires before you tackle the looks of your ride.

  2. Don't waste youre money on pimping up an old dog.  You will never get the money back in a resale. Save any spare cash and buy a better car.

  3. get a gallon of petrol and some matches. this is the only thing that will smarten up a polo

  4. contact Pimp My Ride. See what they can do for you. I love that programme. haha! They rock!

  5. Starting point is your budget. Get yourself some alloys, 16'' they will fit nice.

Then get yourself to the local halfords store and buy interior stuff, (i.e Gear shifter covers, seat covers)

Check out this website for idea's then look on ebay for people who might be selling complete body kits.

http://www.tuning.co.uk.  follow the links to the vw polo, your model is the 6N1. this site is awsome ive been using it for some time,

hopes this helps and good luck!!
