How do I play The Sims 2 online?

I was reading a question about how to make The Sims 2 faster (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ah48RexNL_hEnpz9M3JZ_J0jzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20080425124331AAMD4t3) and in her description she said "I know that I have plenty of memory, and I play the game offline most of the time. So, what are some things I can do to increase the speed during game-play?" She said she plays offline MOST OF THE TIME, so how does she play online some of the time? Any and all help is appreciated.
