How do I play a video file that I downloaded?

when I download episodes of shows from the internet, do i have to convert them somehow to play on itunes? because when I click play, it doesn't do anything! Please help :)

What is the extension of the file?

(ex - .mpg - .avi)

itunes only plays one type of videos... and its .mp4

I would recommend you downloading a different software to play videos

Right click on the video, click open with, and select windows media player

You should make sure the video is MP4 or H2.64 video for itunes. try the Video to iTunes Converter, it is so easy to rip DVD to iTunes, convert free youtube, limewire, google video to iTunes for iPhone, iPod touch/classic/video/nano, Apple TV.

You should rename the file type to FLV file then your video download can be play.
