How do I play games on wii with my friend?

I have connected my friend's and my wii, so he is in my address book, and we can send messages. But how do we play games together?

through our Wiis?

and if we have to buy a game, which ones would you recommend?

Ok you should Buy Super Smash Brothers Brawl and register each other in THAT games friend codes. then play together.

Wifi is nintendo's free online service that is automatically used with internet related tasks.

You already have wi fi if you can send messages. But to play together over the internet you will both need the same game that has NWFC (Nintendo Wi Fi Connection) Look here for a full list of games: http://www.nintendowifi.com/
