How do I play songs on Itunes from my Desktop folder?

So, I moved my songs from my desktop to my ITunes program (just selected and dragged them over to the play list). But, now every time I want to play one it says I have to go find it. Where are they supposed to go?

Right click the song and click properties, then click open with and select iTunes player, Now all your songs will open up with iTunes.
