How do I prepare the neatsfoot oil?

i want to use the neatsfoot oil in some leather pieces. I want the FOrmula to prepare it

  1. veg oil or petroleum jello& alittle water should do the trick...what are you using it for?

Don'tnderstand what you mean by Formula to prepare..Neatfoots oil is used as is on leather.I do my reins,,bridles, leather halters,tie downs, breastplate, etc. with it.I have a large bowl I dip all the leather in and then hang the item for a number of hours with a piece of plastic under them to catch the oil that drips off as it can be reused. After the items have dried(so to speak) I then get a cloth and wipe all items real well to remove any more excess that might squeeze out. The leather is completely saturated.  I do not do the same with a saddle though as that would ruin the under padding. I use it mainly where ever the leather has a buckle or where it bends around the stirrups,,,never around the seat area as the oil will stain jeans or clothing,,I hand rub mink paste very sparingly where ever clothing might touch..
