I'd like my domain name to expire on the last day of already paid service, without auto-renewing and without my need to actively cancel it.

  2. I don't think you can turn off automatic renewal.  If your credit card company offers virtual numbers, you might try that.  Those numbers - tied to your main account number - are temporary, and usually expire in one or two months.  Since that temporary, virtual number is the one on record, and will have expired by renewal time, your main card cannot be charged automatically.  At renewal time, you'll receive a notice from Yahoo! requesting you to update your payment methods.  If you want to renew, you can just provide a new virtual number.  If not, just do nothing.  Or,  you could log in on the last day and click on the Cancel Account button.
