How do I prevent mice?

My neighbor is having a problem with mice in her shed and another found a nest in his car. How do I make sure this problem does not enter my house?

Another option I do is make sure all food is tight.They normally go where there is some type of food/water supply.

So,if its not there they wonrt come.

Spread cayenne pepper around on bushes etc..keeps raccoons and other animals away also.

Get an owl box- build it an they will come (owls, that is), then eat all the mice.  :)
