  1. I would consider it exercise for the dog. He may have a boring time back there without the squirrels.

  2. 22 caliber rifle

  3. put a bark collar on the dog... if the dog isn't in a frenzy, it won't be fun for the squirrel any more....

  4. I know this aint gonna go over to well, but let your dog catch one my German Shepherd goes wild trying to catch them as they run across the stockard fence in our backyard. He has get a couple by the tail but they get away.

  5. Why prevent them? This is keeping your dog busy and is good exercise. I watch the squirrels chasing the crows around my backyard. They actually leap in the air to try and catch them. Interestingly enough I have the neighbour cats come to get treats from me I put the treats at one end of the porch and peanuts for the squirrels at the other end which is only like 3 feet away. The cats eat the treats, the squirells munch on the peanuts and nobody bothers each other. The cats don't make any attempt to chase the squirrels.
