How do I program a new remote control to my tv?

I just got digital cable and it doesnt turn the volume of my tv up or down. I found the codes online for my tv but I dont know what to do with those codes. My tv is an Orion and if it helps I have Comcast. Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure there isn't a "tv" button on the remote.  Those are usually multi-function and you have to switch over from one to the other for that to work.  (hopefully that is)  push the tv button and then try the volume.
