Question:

How do I properly dispose of landline cordless phones?

I seem to remember, though I may be remembering incorrectly, that the batteries in cordless phones are not supposed to be thrown away into the garbage, but disposed of differently. I have a landline phone I need to dispose of, and need to know how to do it correctly. Thanks!

  1. many cities established a non-emergency public service information number... if your area has that, you should call them at 311 and ask them your local procedure.

you could just throw it in the trash, but if you are one of those enviro-mental-ists then I guess just treat it as you would any other hazardous waste.

  2. I take all my electronics and stuff to the official county garbage dump..........like computers, monitors and all phones....!

my cell-phones I donate to the Shelter for battered women...

  3. why don't you donate the phone instead?I think that's a better solution.

  4. Our uni has a recycling facility for phone batteries, because they can't be disposed of in the normal fashion (something to do with corrosion I think).  Um?  You could phone (on your new phone!) the manufacturer and ask them for advice on what to do.  Or phone a Tandy or other electronics store for advice - I bet they get those queries all the time when people buy new phones and may even have a service where you could drop it off.
