I have a wonderful fig tree in my yard, that produces abundent fruit. The problem is that whenever the fruit gets close to being ripe, it is attacked by all manner of pests- there's these metalic flying beatles, there's little flying gnats that get inside, there ants that also get inside. I'd like to not spray the fruit with pesticides. Any advice from others?

  1. Most people around here where I live use a net to cover the entire tree. You should be able to get one at the hardware store.

  2. To the best of my knowledge, there is no known natural predator that will feed on all three pests., and the possibility of the alternative  ie, 3 seperate predators for the pests, are very remote indeed, if at all possible. Even it it were possible, there are far too many millions of pests, relative to the numbers of predators. You may not have an alternative, after all what is happening is part of natures success story.Nets will not stop ants and Gnats.
