How do I protect my impatiens (on the balcony) from aphids?

I've recently replaced a couple of my annuals as they were infested by aphids. I've bought impatiens and now want to prevent aphids from killing my new plants. The spray that I previously used to fight the aphids (which I bought way too late) specifically says it cannot be used on impatiens. What can I do now to make sure that aphids do not kill my plants?

  1. Soak some cig. butts in water and spray them with that once in awhile.   It'll kill most anything; hopefully not your plants.

  2. aphids and parasites(fleas n head lice included)cant stand lavender plants they detest it buy a few small pots and place them behind or inbetween the others the aphids will move on.
