How do I protect myself from Craigslist scam?

There is no way i could do a local pickup and am getting the item shipped (i know CL is for local pickups but im getting a better deal this way as opposed to ebay).

The item is about a $175 item and it looks like a very legit seller but is there anyway if I pay her and she backs out that i could do something?
