Question:

How do I put a bobbin back into a Kenmore sewing machine?

The model number is 158 15251. It does not drop in from the top, it goes in from the front, and I do not know how to put the bobbin parts back in correctly. Pictures would be helpful, otherwise be as descriptive as you can.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  1. I've never used a Kenmore machine, I assume it's an american make, but most front loading bobbins go into a holder first which then clips into the machine. This is normal for all British machines including imports like Toyota.

The bobbin holder is like a small steel cup or drum with a central hole which clips onto a central shaft on the machine. It is released by lifting a release lever on the front of the bobbin holder. The bobbin can then be dropped out of the holder. The replacement bobbin is inserted into the holder and the thread pulled through the slot in the side of this holder and under the spring clip so it exits through the hole in the side of the holder. The holder is then simply pushed back onto the shaft until it clicks into place. The spike on the holder should be pointing straight up and the release lever to your left. This is standard on all the machines I have seen here, whatever make they are, so I'm hoping American machines don't have some totally different system.

    Otherwise, try

  2. Here is a direct link to exactly what you want to see. SewUSA has diagrams on how to thread most sewing machines including the bobbins.

    Here is your machine...

    Hope this helps.
