  1. I don't know how to explain in detail, but if the movie is in .avi format, you can burn it straight to DVD. I use Nero to burn things, but I think you can also you Windows Media Player.

  2. Standard DVD players read the .Vob format, the files you have now are in DivX movies

I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it for a year now, never had a problem!

It will convert your video files to the dvd format readable by all standard dvd players, then burn automatically to DVD!

it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

    1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here:

    http://www.burner-software.com/AVI-to-DV...

It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mpeg, mp4, avi, DivX to dvd

    2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

    3. Insert blank DVD

    4. Click "Convert"

    5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

  3. Use D.I.K.O (freeware)

This program is very easy to use with AVIs. Once you tell it where you file is and stick blank media DVD+-R or DVDRW the program can create:

    1. Creates DVD ISO file to be burned onto DVDRW later

    2. Creates DVD.mpeg2

    3. Creates a DVD where you can play it in your DVD player
