Ive just bought a shuffle and I have charged it up. It said it is supoosed to offer you a set up option . It gives you a menu as a MP3 player would or a memory stick.I have tried to synchronise with it in media player and send music to like a USB memory stick but can hear nothing. Can you help please. I dont think it works like a memory stick but the information with it is not very helpful Thankyou

  1. You don't use Windows Media PLayer you MUST use itunes from www.apple.com/itunes it tells you this in the instructions.

The ipod is designed to work with and be the slave to itunes on the computer to which its paired.

If you do not pair a ipod to a computer you cannot alter its settings.

If you pair your ipod to a new computer it overwrites whats on it.

you use itunes instead of media player to organise your music and then sync it with the ipod.

install itunes then drag and drop all your music onto the library icon in itunes (in prefs let itunes organise your music)

the mAster files are on the computer in the itunes library and you really need to back these up directly.

Thats NOT they way its designed to work the ipod is a slave device to ONE itunes only although itunes can have many ipods. When you PAIR an iPod with a computer it erases all songs on it!!! and deletes pairing with original computer.

Simply dragging music onto an ipod does NOT make that music playable it then acts as hard disk. To make the music playable you MUST use itunes to sync with it as only itunes can put the music files in the correct file names (not the same as on the computer) in hidden folders and create the hidden indexes for them to be playable.

  4. Install iTunes on your PC, it's free and very easy to use.

You can import music from your PC or CD's, and buy music from iTunes if you want to.

When you have imported your music into iTunes you can set up playlists and simply right-click what you want to put on your Shuffle and select your iPod from the list shown.

Note: I had a registration problem with iTunes - when you connect your iPod if it comes up with registration options select "register later" and go to the iPod site and do it manually otherwise you might not be able to use iTunes.

  5. plug it into ur computer and use itunes
