  1. slowly.. or scoop the fish out and put them in a big bowl or container or somthing and put the sand in after.. wait till the sand all settles to the bottom and then put the fish back in.. :)

    good luckk

make sure u keep your fishies SAFE

  2. Firstly which fish do you have?

Becuase unless its African cichlids or something along those lines, sand would hardly be a nesscary.

Sand does have its advantages (crushes together, so food waste is left on the surface and can be easily cleaned off) but mainly its just for asthetics

and by doing the change while the fishes are in their? its madness!

youl kill them, by chokeing them, and destory your filter etc as the sand particules will get clogged up inside

+ sand can take days to settle

If you ask me, its a whole lot of worry about nothing :(

best thing to do in my opinion is too stick with gravel :D

    good luck

  3. Well, depending on the size of your tank you will either need to take the fish/pellets out. If you have enough room for them to be on the opposite side, work it that way.

  4. What size aquarium we talking about? It can be done but takes some planing. First off get a couple sponge filters(http://www.aquariumguys.com/aquarium-spo... and an extra heater (always good to have a spare on hand). Then get them seasoned by running in tank a few weeks. Use a foam ice chest to put fish in along with a seasoned foam filter and a heater and aquarium water. Then drain tank saving water. Take gravel out replacing with WASHED sand. Slowly put saved water back in (use a bowl in aquarium to catch the water as not to rile sand to much). Run second foam filter a day or so till water is fairly clear. Then put your fish in using bags to acclimate
