My fiance and I are the only two employees besided my boss. I feel the company is going under and we both have an opprtunity to move and make more money. One of our co-workers just died on the job and thats what initially made us want to leave. But if we quit, then our boss is the only one left. If we stay, we will be stuck in our little apartment letting better opportunities pass us by. We feel bad but we need to get out. Any advice??

  1. Write a formal letter of resignation. Explain your reasons in a way that does not even hint at assigning blame. There may be a really good job opportunity that you feel you can't pass up, or the desire to expand your skills in another direction, or you want to move across town. Sometimes the exact truth isn't the best way to go.

    Good luck!

  2. Hi,

Why not write a letter of resignation to him. Letting him know it has been a privilege working for him. We all feel bad for leaving sometimes but if you need to resign both of you do so if you want to advance in the work force

  3. Give notice. Its usually 2-weeks but it can be more if you want. You don't really have to give a reason but the reasons you have are good and valid ones.

  4. i can understand why you would feel bad, but you can not put your lives on hold so as not to upset your boss.

If you both think moving on is the right thing to do then you have to go for it.  you would need to write a formal letter of resignation to your human resources dept, but think you should definately talk to your boss about it as would be awful if he just gets given a copy of the letter and finds out that way.

Good luck in whatever you decide
