I got an extra job as a waitress to bring in extra money. The restaurant is a sports bar and last week when I was there a few of the old men there started saying offensive things that they would like to do to me sexually. Then the new cook hugged me and tried to kiss me on the lips and he kept saying how hot I was making him. I don't want to go back there and I am supposed to work there this Saturday. How do I quit?? It is difficult because my roommate works there on Sundays. What would you do? Advice please!!

  1. Call in sick and never return.  Leave it off your resume.  It probably happens all the time.

  2. You have two choices:  you need to talk to you manager and tell him/her what happened.  Or you just call, quit with no reason and blow them off.

The first option is preferred - don't let this s*****k get away with that!!  If you told you manager what happened, they cook would most likely be fired - if not, you have a really good reason never to show up again and possibly take legal action.

If customers are giving you a hard time, it is your right to refuse to service them.  If you manager wants to force you to put up with it, then walk out and hire a lawyer!!

If the cook is fired, but you still want to quit, it is courtesy to give them 2 weeks notice.  But you manager should understand, given these circumstances.  But try not to blow them off and don't let this idiot get away with that.

  3. Call in and tell them that the circumstances their are making you uncomfortable and that you are leaving without notice. If they ask anything else, don't feel obliged to answer or come in. Tell them that you know 2 weeks notice is standard, but under the circumstances, it is in your best interest to leave now. Good Luck! And I'd leave it off your resume, because if they call their, your boss might be bitter and tell them you left without notice and leave out why you had a perfectly good reason too.

  4. Just tell your manager and your roommate that you want to quit because there are certain variables that make you uncomfortable working there.

Also, I would sue that cook for sexual harassment

  5. i would confront your boss and tell him of sexual harassment.  its ILLEGAL.  talk to him about it and if you want to keep your job then he will probably try to make it better but if you want to just quit then tell him you dont feel safe and are quiting.  He should understand, its a very good reason.
