How do I "record" tv shows (clips) and put them on the computer?

I bought a TiVo and I can record TV shows on it. I can then take the TV shows and transfer them to my computer through my wireless network in my house. On the wireless network I have my router, I have my computer, I have my TiVo connected also. When my computer asks my TiVo for a show it puts the show into the network by putting on my TiVo account. I go into my TiVo account and download the show onto my computer. Now I can watch my TV shows on my computer. I have then taken the shows or movie and burned it onto a DVD. Now I can carry my shows around on a DVD tha I made from my TV shows. I think this answers your question. If not let me know and I will answer more if you want. Good Luck.
