  1. If you go to the link for your freecycle group click the edit membership setting at the top and change the e-mail settings to "Web Only" and you'll stop getting the notifications, but can still read the notices on the web if you decide to.

    I hope this helps.

  2. Try this link.

  3. You don't have to quit, here are some suggestions we give our members:

Sometimes you can get too much of a good thing, even Freecycle. Let us suggest a few coping strategies.

    First as a poster:

The Freecycle style is to post two (and only two)

    times per event.

    1. OFFER: followed by a TAKEN: (posted by the original poster, the

    one who made the offer)

    2. WANTED: followed by a RECEIVED (again both posted by the

    originator).

We've been seeing some RECEIVED posted by people who responded to an

OFFER and got the item. This is a wonderful thought, but if it

becomes a standard it could increase the number of emails by up to

50 percent. So please, send your thank yous directly to the donor.

Another thing you can do is consolidate your posts. A numbered list of several OFFERED items is easier to scan than several individual emails. With a really *long* list, you may want to break it into parts posted over succesive days. A lot of people skim or skip altogether lists that are too long.

One last thing is a good subject line. Be concise, but not too long (Yahoo truncates automatically). So "OFFER: Kid's clothes" is a help, but "OFFER: Boy's 5/6 clothes" is a big help.

    Second, from the email end.

We have been averaging 20-30 emails a day, a lot in an inbox. As we increase in size, the volume of emails will increase as well. To stem the flow, you have several options, available by going to the home page and logging

in. Click on "Edit Membership" on the upper left portion of the

page. From there you can select:

    1. Daily digest - Receive a daily compilation of many emails in one

    message.

    2. Special notices - Receive only occasional, important email notices from the

    group moderator. (Like this!)

    3. No email: read messages on the web site. We'd prefer you use Special Notices instead. We don't send out many of them, but if we do we want you to see them.

Another option is to use your email filter to set up a Freecycle folder. You'll still get lots, but separate from your regular mail.

  4. ...click this link that says unsubscribe

  5. Sign in to the group.

Near top of page, click on "Edit Membership".

Click "Leave Group" located on lower right side of page.

Confirm that you do want to leave the group by clicking "Leave Group".  You will be instantly unsubscribed from the group.  You might receive a few more emails from the group and then they will stop coming.
