How do I raise a a dying baby bird?

On my neighbors roof there was a nest of birds the mother apandoned them and one died and the other fell from the roof. We are trying to take care of it but it is dying what should we do?

Every year baby birds would be found in my back yard.  My mother would take them put them in a box and feed them baby oatmeal and applesauce using an eye dropper.  She would also put a little water in a shallow dish for them to drink.  She would kinda make a nest for them with old wash cloths.  When they got old enough to fly out of the box we would have a little "release party" and let them go back outside.  They would all fly away.  You could also check with a vet they may have a number to some place that could take them and nurse them back to health.
