Question:

How do I re-aquire music licenses for subscription & purchased songs after my hard drive is stripped clean?

I currently have Yahoo! Music Unlimited and have hundreds of purchased songs.

My computer is being stripped and all software re-installed due to multiple issues with it. And I need assurance that I will still have access to all my current playlists and purchased music.

What I have found in Yahoo help only responds to "device transfer" information...that is NOT my issue. Can someone help?

  1. If your music is saved then you can hear it from any computer with YMJ.  This is what Yahoo says about that:

"you may access your Yahoo! Music Unlimited songs as streams/bookmarks from an unlimited number of computers. To set this option, go to Edit > Preferences > Y! Unlimited, and click Bookmark It under When I Add a Selection to My Music. Your subscription music will then be available as streams rather than downloaded files, but will not be available to play when offline."

For your purchased songs that you have downloaded, just copy them to an external hard drive so you can move them back to your computer after it is working again.  The purchased songs are yours no matter what computer you have them on.  Note that you can only burn them to 7 CDs.

  2. Dude, you can listen to all the songs you want because you have Unlimited.  If you downloaded the songs to your hard drive and your hard drive goes belly up or gets reformatted, then you will have to download them again.  However, if you purchased songs you better back them up to another hard drive or external media if all your previous data is to be "stripped".  Otherwise you will have to "pay" for the songs again.  I think the following will make that clear:

I don't like being the messenger of bad news.  Sorry Dude.  Happy New Year.
