  1. In UK it is an offence to tamper with BT master sockets, however if an extension is plugged in, you can alter that line or a slave

  2. Very simple, the 2 blue wires need to be stamped down on-to 2 and 5 on the back of the wall plate. It doesn't matter what way round as they aren't polarity conscience.

True you do need 3 for the bell but only if the wall plate has no capaciter fitted (the yellow cylindrical shape on the back).

If it doesn't have one connect  the white/green wire to 3 but make sure you do this at both ends of the cable or it still wont work.

  3. need more input!!!,

2+5 is correct but you also need 3 for the ringer!!or else it won't ring-I should know I install intruder alarms and they dont need the ringer bit-but your phone does.

You only need 2-2,3-3,5-5 on UK phones.

  4. It's easier to see it, use the link below

  5. An extension socket needs to be wired up 2 3 and 5.

Make sure you have connected the same colour at each end ( ie, blue to 2 etc) as some 'phones & equipment ARE polarity consious.

More than one socket with a capacitor in will cause you problems with your broadband.

You MUST not alter or disconnect any wires that are connected to the back part of the master socket as this belongs to BT.

  6. In the UK, the wires from the master socket to the slave sockets are wired as follows .

    2-2

    3-3

    4-4

    5-5

The line pair is on pins 2 and 5.

There is a bell circuit on either 3 or 4, this was used in the old phones.
