How do I reach Manali from mumbai ? which train and upto which station ?

Also, from Manali, I want to reach Mussoorie. and from there back to Mumbai. Any suggestions ?

the destination is not near a rail head.

From Pathankot - i think dalhousie is near, and from there 8-10 hrs to manali.

From Chandigarh, Simla 5 hours and manali 12 hours drive.

From Delhi - 12 hours simla, and from there 12 hours manali.

So - you should go to Simla 1st and then to Manali.

Take train to Chandigarh. From Chandigarh Bus Terminal there are plenty of direct buses to Manali ( via Mandi ) takes 12 hours. All Delhi-Manali buses halt here and takes passenger which are very luxurious.

There are two direct buses from Manali to Dehradun daily ( via Simla - Ponta Sahib ). From Dehradun there are hourly buses to Mussoorie. It will take 20-22 hours for this journey and Buses are simple, instead it is advised to take Luxury Bus to Simla from there plenty of Bus service to Dehradun via Ponta Sahib or Chandigarh.

From Dehradun  take train to Mumbai.
