How do I record me playing a video game through my dvr?

Question

I want to know if it's possible for me to record me playing a game through my dvr? I have been trying to figure out if its possible. If I could, I was going to simply hook up a usb cord from my dvr to my computer and go through the files and pick out the file I want from my computer.
