Question:

How do I recover a Vista Premium machine without the boot disc?

We moved and our HP/Compaq computer died in the process. When I turn it on, it asks for the boot disk, which of course I can't find in any box. How can I recover this computer without calling in a professional and rebuilding from scratch? Can I borrow any Windows Vista boot disk? Can I get another copy on-line somewhere (preferably legally)?

  1. Here you can download Vista Ultimate for free.

But have a look at this site. You find everything you desire and its all free and legal!!

  2. No, Unfortunately you cant. You cant borrow someones boot disk. Every Windows Bootdisk comes with a registry number and once the other person enters that number, You cant use the disk again. Youll need to spend $50 on a Boot disk that has Windows. or you can go with a free operating System like Linux.
