The insurance company has already admitted liability and have since then stopped communication through my lawyer. The accident happened 4 years ago and my lawyer has given up and when I ring no-one tends to know who to put me in contact with. What do I do?

  1. You got some serious issues that need to be addressed immediately. What state is this in? California has a 1 yr Statute of Liability, while Florida has a 4 yr Statute of Liability. It depends on what state, how fast you need to act. You may not have a claim anymore. Has suit been filed? Go to the lawyer's office. If they won't let you see the attorney then, at least you can "schedule' specific "face-time" with their office. The insurance company can not speak with you legally since there is the attorney client privilege. If suit has been filed, then the Statute of Limitations has probably been protected but you would have been in Discovery by now and would have talked to your attorney. Need to know state & you need to go to attorney's office. Next step is to fire that attorney and trying to hire another one.

  2. Yes, well, if your lawyer has given up, most likely the time period has lapsed.  There's a statute of limitations, and either you have to file your lawsuit, or settle the claim, before that time period runs out.  In most states, it's 2-3 years.

Odds are, it's too late now.
