Question:

How do I recover my passion for writing?

I used to write poetry mainly and short stories so much in the past that I have notebooks full of work. In the recent years I have lost all passion for my work and it deeply saddens me.

Has anyone else ever had this, and if so how did you regain your passion?

  1. What worked for me, was watching anime (Japanese animation) or watching movies full of emotion. It made me have this huge urge to write down exactly how I felt after being put through all that emotion, and soon I realised that I was writing poems and stories again. Also, if you're a deep dreamer like me, you may get some inspiration from your dreams. You can get some pretty amazing storylines and could combine many of your dreams to write an awesome story.

Good luck and I hope you regain your passion. :)

Hope I've helped in some way.

  2. Sign up for helium.com

Not only will you get paid for writing you will become encouraged to write more.

Here's how that works. When you submit a writing, you are immediately taken to a ratings page. There will be two articles of the same title written by different people. You will compare these writings and choose the one you think is best.

Then two more stories/poems/articles will come up and you will do it all over again.

Eventualy, you will come across one that you won't be able to resist it. You will say to yourself, "I can write to that title better."

At the end of each pair there is a button that says "Write". Write you version of the subject and you'll be off.

This is a great way to get motivated to write.

There is also a free writing group called writing.com you can write, submit for critiques and review other writers. Most other members are very supportive and helpful.

    Good luck with your muse.

  3. I have that same problem.  I have a HUGE section of books that I have written.  Now I can't right anythign that makes me feel like it is ok.  I reccomend just getting a pad of paper and writing EVERYTHING that comes to your mind.  I heard that helps.  Then just write a story from that.  I just haven't had time to do that.  Hope this helps
