things I love about my Harley but on long rides, my right foot typically falls asleep. I currently have chrome pegs so am changing those out with a more rubber padded peg.

  1. The rubber mounting on the engine should be taking care of that.I had a 99 Dyna and have an 02 Glide now and i've never had that trouble.Maybe you should check the motor mounts out, especially the top mount. As for rubber pegs Kuryacken's Iso pegs are hard to beat.

I got to thinking it might be worth your while have the run out and balance on your wheels checked especially the front one.Crash's suggestions are good too.

  2. sell it while you still can and buy a Honda or Yamaha

  3. the rubber pegs may help some, but what you really need is a way to reposition your leg while riding.  riding long distances without being able to move your legs can cause quite a bit of discomfort.

you might try adding highway pegs where you can change your position while riding. this should relieve the "leg asleep" problem on those longer rides.

  4. If your planning to do long rides in sequence, your are on the wrong bike. Ill call long as over 200 miles and touring as over 400 per day for many days. Harley's are a lot of fun but many of the sporty looking ones aren't much good for touring. If you can get out of this bike and you are dedicated to Harley why not trade in on a road king? Several of my buddies have Road Kings and all are pretty happy with these as over the road bikes.

Solving a vibration problem on a low rider by bolting on chrome do - dads probably isn't going to happen. Good luck. Enjoy the ride.

  5. #1 make sure your primary chain is adjusted right & the adjuster shoe is not worn out.

    #2 check your motor mounts.

#3 change your rear wheel pulley to 1 with less/more teeth. this will change the speed where it vibrates the most. most harleys have a certain speed where they have no vibration(sweet spot).

#4 get a" balance master" from the after market for your compensator sprocket . never tried one of these, dont know if they work or not.

personally I  just ride at a speed where theres no vibration, usually some where between 70 & 85 on most newer bikes.

loose bolts anywhere, especially on your motor mounts or exhaust pipes will cause vibration.
