  1. What is tickover???????????????????????

  2. what do you mean by "tickover"?

The idle! There should be an idle stop s***w on the govenor, and the throttle cable will push the throttle lever against it at idle. Loosen the locknut and turn that s***w in a little and lock it again. Then adjust the cable so it hits against it at idle. That should do it!

  3. There are not to many diesel engines that have an external throttle idle stop.  You need to decide what make of engine your friend has and check with a dealer or a mechanic that knows that particular engine.  Or we may be able to help once you tell us what engine it is.
